Course Purpose
This course is designed to provide the participant with the knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes to him to have confidence in pre inspection, donning and use of various types of breathing apparatus

Pre use, inspection and donning of SCBA
Delivery
Delivery will consist of classroom theory and practical exercises
Target Population
All employees required to work to supervise work while using breathing apparatus. All persons required to use Emergency Escape Apparatus
Competency Assessment
Assessment for this unit will consist of observation reports of each candidate by qualified A1/B1 Assessors

One Day per type of SCBA
Course Purpose
This course is designed to provide the participant with the additional knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes to him to identify and enter and work safely in confined spaces.

This unit is divided into nine elements.

None
Learning Outcome
On completion of this course the learner will be able to:
Summary of Content
This unit gives an overview of the risks and the management of those risks in confined space operations.
Delivery
Delivery will consist of classroom theory, practical exercises and audio-visual presentation
Target Population
All employees required to work or supervise work in confined spaces.
Competency Assessment
Assessment for this unit will consist of a knowledge based on classroom material and practical exercises
Duration
Eight hours
This one-day course is designed to meet the new OPITO Industry Standard 2001 for working safely in an IDLH atmosphere. The course also meets ANSI Z390.1-1995, Shell Document EP95-0317 and ISGOTT requirements.
The course will provide the participant offshore with the additional knowledge, skills and appropriate attitudes to enable identification and management of H2S hazards in accordance with a Slickline/Conductorline, Work-over, and Drilling H2S Management Plan.
Course topics and activities include:
Learning Outcome
On completion of this course the learner will be able to identify the properties and sources of H2S and Sulphur Dioxide as well as learn how to manage the risk of exposure. The learner will be able to operate a personal H2S monitor in accordance with the procedures.
The learner will be able to inspect, store, don, and use the breathing apparatus, supplied for training purposes, in accordance with the procedures. The learner will be able to identify their emergency procedures according to a management plan during an H2S emergency.
Delivery
Delivery will consist of classroom theory and practical exercises. This will allow for total integration of competence, knowledge, thinking skills, and correct procedures. Competency assessment for this unit will consist of a knowledge and skills assessment based on classroom material and practical exercises.
Instructors all hold a minimum of A1/B1 Trainers certificates from OPITO as well as each having extensive experience of H2S wells both off and onshore.
